So far, I have made a few contributions towards the New Media wiki, and have plans to make much more. As of now, I have mainly been working on the wiki page, "How New Media are Used in Sports". I edited the content under "Snapchat" on this page to fix grammatical errors and sentence structure. I also embedded pictures of the icons for Instagram and Twitter in the sections mentioning them. To make the overall wiki easier to read, I readjusted the dimensions of two embedded pictures (the Snapchat icon and the First Take logo) in order to make them smaller, allowing the user to follow along with the sections better. My plans are to add more contributions to the sports page, specifically in the sections talking about new media's use in collegiate recruiting. I n our society today, a society heavily influenced by new media (and almost fully run by new media), file sharing is another way we as humans stay connected and interact with each other. When one mentions file sharing, they mean the ability to send and receive digital files (documents, pictures, videos, links, etc) through the use of the internet (in other words, using the "cloud" or "air") from one device to another. A few examples of this could be airdropping pictures from one iPhone to another using Apple's iCloud, sharing files or folders with other people using Google Drive, or even the group work option on Blackboard, where a group of students can share files, submissions, etc with each other. When people mention the umbrella term of file sharing, one branch that comes up is P2P file sharing. P2P file sharing simply means peer to peer file sharing. This basically means that there is a digital distribution of these files and other media between two or more

Although the introduction of the new media age has ushered us into a new era of life (one filled with amazing connectivity), it came with its own downfalls and necessary sacrifices. When we make use of all the new media available to us (like social media), we naturally expose ourselves to the world. Something as simple as creating a Facebook or Twitter account with things like your birthday, school, job, etc. expose you to the world. When we make posts, like posts, and interact within our new media, our actions are being noted down. Thought patterns are being figured out and programs are actively trying to figure out how our brain works (which is how we end up finding ads for things we never even searched). Sometimes, an individual can learn where a professional goes to work and what department they work in just by doing a quick LinkedIn search. With all this access to new media, we have to be weary and take precaution to avoid disastrous situations from opening ourselves to the world.

If I had the chance to be hired by Baruch College for the purpose of implementing new media to improve the college experience, I would have many suggestions. For starters, I would suggest the implementation of some kind of cloud based connection between all students taking a certain class (regardless of the professor). This could be something as simple as a shared Google Drive or some other file sharing service. I believe something like this would make the learning process within a certain subject much more comprehensive as the students now have access to the subject in the perspective of other professors (which could end up helping students learn the material a lot better). I would also suggest some kind of app or social media integration which allows all Baruch students to stay connected with the club life on campus. Club life is a great way to meet so many people but so many Baruch student's don't take advantage of it. This is because a lot of them just don't know what e

One way that new media has fostered creativity in my life has been through video games, and more specifically, NBA 2k. The NBA 2k series has been going on every year since late 90s/early 2000s. Throughout the years, NBA 2k has given creativity a platform in their game through their MyPlayer and Create A Player modes. With both of these modes, an individual can use their imagination to create their own NBA player from scratch, just the way they want to. Pictured below is a screenshot from one of the many players I created in the Create A Player mode in NBA 2k18. Through NBA 2k, I am able to customize and be creative with things like background (name, college, birthday, etc), height, weight, wingspan, hair, facial hair, body type, etc. The cool thing about this mode is that you can also customize the attributes your player has, making your player the type you want them to be. Throughout history, creativity has been fostered within individuals through many different means. It has been seen that some things foster creativity more than others. One of these things that greatly foster creativity is new media. Ever since new media began to emerge all those years ago, we have seen an age of amazing creativity, whether it be in music, education, technology, medicine, etc. Personally, I am a big fan of the creativity new media fostered in terms of the music world.
