Creativity and New Media

One way that new media has fostered creativity in my life has been through video games, and more specifically, NBA 2k. The NBA 2k series has been going on every year since late 90s/early 2000s. Throughout the years, NBA 2k has given creativity a platform in their game through their MyPlayer and Create A Player modes. With both of these modes, an individual can use their imagination to create their own NBA player from scratch, just the way they want to. Pictured below is a screenshot from one of the many players I created in the Create A Player mode in NBA 2k18. Through NBA 2k, I am able to customize and be creative with things like background (name, college, birthday, etc), height, weight, wingspan, hair, facial hair, body type, etc. The cool thing about this mode is that you can also customize the attributes your player has, making your player the type you want them to be. For example, if you want to create a player that will play as a shooter, you can max out all of the shooting attributes. NBA 2k also allows you to make multiple player builds, allowing you to be creative and try new things and player builds Truly, NBA 2k has given be the ability to be creative through their player creating abilities.

Creative

Throughout history, creativity has been fostered within individuals through many different means. It has been seen that some things foster creativity more than others. One of these things that greatly foster creativity is new media. Ever since new media began to emerge all those years ago, we have seen an age of amazing creativity, whether it be in music, education, technology, medicine, etc. Personally, I am a big fan of the creativity new media fostered in terms of the music world.
